Wander in the Wonder of National Parks

Share outdoor adventures, both big and small.

The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) cares for 63 national parks, preserving some of the most magnificent and meaningful places in the country. If you include historic sites, monuments, recreation areas, and seashores, too, that total jumps to more than 400. And the best part? There are plenty of WorldMark resorts within driving distance to choose from.

This year, WorldMark is partnering with the Parks Project, empowering owners to both enjoy and help preserve the national parks.

A bird's-eye-view of mountains and a waterfall at Yellowstone National Park.

Mountains behind a rocky lake during golden hour at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
Rocky Mountain National Park.

Tall rock formations, trees, and a clear sky at Zion National Park in Utah.
Zion National Park.

Zion National Park is a surreal blend of winding canyons and sheer cliffs with colors that will leave your family awestruck. Gorge walk through the Narrows, hike iconic Angels Landing, and horseback ride through the desert. See it all from WorldMark St. George or WorldMark Estancia, both one hour away.

Deer graze in a grassy plain with a river in the distance at Olympic National Park in Washington.
Olympic National Park.

Round up the family and drive over an hour to Olympic National Park from WorldMark Discovery Bay in Port Townsend, Washington. This huge park has a wide range of attractions from the dramatic rocks of Rialto Beach to magical hikes in Hoh Rainforest, a mossy green wonderland straight out of a fairytale.

A dad and child throw stones into a stream at Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Book your stay at Club Wyndham Smoky Mountains or Club Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge, both just 30 minutes away from the park, then round up the family for amazing sightseeing opportunities. Fall in love with the historic cabin trails at Cades Cove or the peak views at Clingmans Dome.

A river winding around red rock mountains at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Grand Canyon National Park.

One of the world’s most epic canyons awaits at Grand Canyon National Park. Walk around the edge on the Canyon Rim Trail, hike into the canyon itself, or raft down the Colorado River to experience the Grand Canyon in a whole new way. From Club Wyndham Flagstaff, it’s 1 hour, 25 minutes to the Desert View East Entrance or 1 hour, 45 minutes to the popular South Rim.

Anacapa Island, a small volcanic island off the coast of California.
Channel Islands National Park.

Club Wyndham Harbortown Point is right next the marina where you can hop on a boat to the five islands of Channel Islands National Park. Each of these California islands offer unique experiences, and Santa Rosa Island has those secluded white-sand beaches you’ve been searching for. If you're traveling in the summer, keep an eye out for humpback whales as they migrate north.

California family favorites.

With nine fascinating parks, California has the most national parks of any state in the U.S. And your WorldMark resorts put you within 2 hours of five of them. Road trip, anyone?

Joshua trees, scrubs, and hills at dusk in Joshua Tee National Park
Joshua Tree National Park.

Hike through surreal desert landscapes in Joshua Tree National Park. Just 30 minutes from WorldMark Indio, the park has a fascinating variety of rare plants and animals, including its namesake Joshua Tree — a spikey, spindly oddity that looks to be straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. Try the 0.7-mile Discovery Trail, an easy looping hike designed by local students.

Large rock mountains at Yosemite National Park in California.
Yosemite National Park.

Just 30 minutes from WorldMark Bass LakeYosemite National Park is a stunning national park that's totally worth a day trip (or two!). Think thundering waterfalls, giant sequoia trees, and massive granite cliffs — most famously, Half Dome. Apply for a permit to climb it, or drive to Tunnel View to get a gorgeous look at it.

Mountains and sand at Death Valley National Park.
Death Valley National Park.

For the epitome of “sun-kissed,” drive 2 hours from your Las Vegas resorts to reach Death Valley National Park. This below sea-level desert brings extreme heat and a different kind of sea salt. Visit the Badwater Basin salt flat and its unique salt polygons, then marvel at the Devils Golf Course and the view from Zabriskie Point.

The sun sets on large rock formations in the sand at Pinnacles National Park in California.
Pinnacles National Park.

Drive an hour from WorldMark Marina Dunes to explore Pinnacles National Park together. Geologically, this park was made from volcano eruptions that slid together, forming towering rock spires. This is a smaller park, so the best way to see it is to hike. Try the iconic High Peaks hike for a challenge, or the easier and shorter Balconies Trail to loop through talus caves.

A wood walkway surrounded by large sequoia trees at Kings Canyon National Park, one of the most beautiful forests in America.
Kings Canyon National Park.

Kings Canyon National Park is 2 hours from WorldMark Bass Lake — and if you don’t mind driving 45 minutes more, you can see Sequoia National Park, too. These side-by-side parks feature some of the largest trees you’ll ever see. Drive the General’s Highway through sequoia forests, then stroll through Zumwalt Meadow for one of the best day hikes around.
